I just picked up a 92 GS with the v-6 that I am trying to revive. I have a running GS to compare it to. My problem is I am getting no spark. Plugs and wires have been replaced. Primary winding resistance on the coil appears okay (although a little more than stated in shop manual but I am testing at 32 degrees F and not 68 degrees F as stated in the book). Secondary coil I cannot get a reading but I also don't get one on my running car. What should I do next? Seems like the only things left are the distributor (with coil) or the ECU.... Does the v-6 have a crank position sensor for firing and if so, how do I find it and check it?
Thanks for any help.... as I am stumped.

Re: 92 GS v-6 with no spark
you can check the crank position sensor by checking resistance across its pins, the plug for it is right under the coolant fill cap, youll see it and can follow the wire down to the crank sensor
But its most likely the ignitor gone dead.... in which case the disty as a unit needs to be replaced. you can do a search for HEI mod if you dont want to shell out the cash for a distributor

It's been confirmed that it's not needed for the car to run. Most likely a disty issue.

Re: 92 GS v-6 with no spark
if you have a running gs then just swap out the distributors and see if that fixes your no spark issue it does not take long just make sure you mark them prior to removal so you know exactly where they were when you took it out.
Re: 92 GS v-6 with no spark, now spark but dies
So I swapped in a know good distributor and... the car will start up but dies after about 5 seconds. If I pump the gas pedal as fast as possible, it will sputter a lot and stay running a bit more. Any ideas?

vacuum possibly
And as previously mentioned, you should switch to the HEI mod. I just recently had to. Reason being; its almost $300 for a new disti in some places, and abour $55ish for a used disti from a friend. For roughly $110, you can do the full HEI mod.
