Re: tehbrookzorz - 1992 MX-3 GS (56k... Really?)
Well the engine block has been at the machine shop for awhile. I took up the pistons and rods, and he figured he could start machining pretty soon. A week or so ago I got a call to bring up the crank cap bolts so that the engine could be bored under it's normal stress, so as to prevent warpage. I could not for the life of me find the plastic parts bin I'd put all the engine fasteners in. I had a good idea where I'd left it, but it wasn't where I remembered leaving it in the shop. Spent a long and nervous time trying to track it down until I casually looked up today during work to spot it sitting on the top shelf in a corner of the shop. People and their "cleaning up." So up to the machine shop I went. The guy says he should have the block ready to go within a couple weeks. I'm excited!
I also realized the simplest way to clean out my intake manifold. I already got my engine block cold tanked, so why not the manifold too?

2nd ZE head is now here, so I've taken both DE and ZE heads to the machine shop for spring and retainer swaps and the valve job. The machinist tells me the block can be done within a week. I've also dropped off my spare MX-3 flywheel for machining.
Oh, and the fuel injectors/rails and clutch have been arranged via Rebel2k4. Down payment has been made on wytbushings and cam gears, oil pressure and temperature gauges are on their way via bumpysbro, and the cf hatch is presumably in safe keeping awaiting word on shipping. Ordered an AEM AFPR from Lordco yesterday, so I'll finally spend those Lordco gift cards. Hmm.. Getting closer.

Re: tehbrookzorz - 1992 MX-3 GS (56k... Really?)
Quick update:
The list of build related stuff I have:
KL-DE block bored 0.020" over stock with notched cylinders to accept custom rods, KL-ZE heads with KL-DE intake springs and retainers and 3 way valve job, 8.5:1 ceramic and moly coated custom forged pistons with rings, SAE 4340 forged Eagle 5.400" H-Beam Rods with ARP 2000 cap screws, Mazda OEM head bolts, Fel-Pro MLS Head Gaskets, custom adjustable cam pulleys, Synapse Synchronic BOV, SS turbo pipes, curved neck ZE intake, Outlaw Engineering intake manifold and tb spacers, AEM fuel pressure regulator, Southbend clutch, MX-6 transmission, MX-3 flywheel, gauge pod, AEM UEGO Wideband O2 Sensor/Controller, Autometer mechanical boost gauge, Autometer Cobalt series full sweep electronic oil pressure and temperature gauges, Stri turbo timer, Megasquirt v3, Walbro 255lph fuel pump, Vibrant front mount intercooler, Mazdaspeed Protege LSD
The list of stuff I still should get:
GT3071R dual ball bearing turbo (half paid), Turbosmart 38mm wastegate(half paid), oil pump, performance spark plug wires, water pump, timing belt and idler pulleys, timing belt tensioner strut, Denso 550 injectors and modified fuel rail (arranged, payment pending), oil catch can, slim fan (mishimoto?), AWR front and rear motor mounts
I'm thinking I will transfer the water pump which I installed in my K8 last year, as well as the newer timing belt. I will check the other timing components for play and will likely just transfer them over as well. This means that once payment is complete on the turbo, wastegate, injectors/rails, all I'll really need is an oil catch can, motor mounts and slim fan, as well as the small misc stuff I'll run into during the build.
I'll be making a trip to Calgary April 17th to have my internal components balanced. The block is ready, as are the heads. I'm itching to start assembly!

Wow that is quite a list of parts haha.
Consider this timing belt tensioner:

That is one badass tensioner. Not something I've got cash for right now, but it might be a good idea in the future.

Re: tehbrookzorz - 1992 MX-3 GS (56k... Really?)
Haven't been too active on here lately, so here's what's been happening with the car (even though the main power project has shifted to Project KL-T).
Swapped out the broken transmission. Third was no longer usable. Installed a MX-6 unit with taller final drive ratio which nicely brings the revs down at highway speeds. While out, I swapped the clutch with the performance one I had intended on using in the turbo motor. It grabs hard. Too bad I have no power behind it.

Felt like a change so I spraybombed the rims with the wheel paint you can get at Canadian Tire. I think they turned out pretty good for such a half-assed job.

Straight up, I slid into a fire hydrant and smashed my right headlight. Some girl in a lifted Dodge truck was driving like a douche and I got spirited and made the mistake of forgetting that Michelin X-Ice tires DO NOT grip on hot pavement. I have yet to find out what they are good for gripping on... End result, smashy smashy, new headlights time!

Weight reduction and beauty. CF hatch. I'm really not sure whether to keep this or sell it.

Suspension poly-bushing kit. Made by Whytbishop who also my heim-joint adjustable sway bar end links. Stiffer than stock, but again, I'm not sure at this point if they're worth installing rather than selling.

Um, I also did a weight reduction mod... Well, part of it.

You and I haven't had the best transaction history, but you eventually redeemed yourself both times. I will consider this, as I'm probably not going to use them. I'm gonna suggest shipping with a tracking number.

I dreamed I was discussing the current economic struggles with my boss when a loud, obnoxious lady showed up (I assumed some sort of business mentor or accountant). She introduced herself as Kelza, and when we looked confused, she spelled it K-L-Z-E. I laughed and said, "that's the same name as my engine." Then I awoke.

It's going to be great! Do you know how much more your rotating assembly will weigh? I hope the truck chick's insurance is buying your new lights.
