Need advice on struts

Post by Juans_93_MX3 »

I've heard of good things about Tokico struts from other people outside of MX-3.com.
But what do you guys think of these struts on our cars if you plan to lower 1.5 inch with H&R springs?

Also what other struts are available for the MX3 that will work with 1.5 lowering H&R springs?
Protege struts?
Ive heard the name ZX2 around

ZX2 S/R struts are the cheapest bet and they should work ok, you can get em from the ford dealer
KYB GR2
Tokico HP

Dude, this has been covered so many times.. If you have a V6 I recommend that you get the V6 struts as the front end weight is abit more then other cars.

What year ZX2 can I get struts out of?
Ok thats a stupid question but how about this. If I am buying used struts right now, I am not going to be installing them for until another year and a half, what are things I should look out for (damage wise)?
Because I dont want buy something from someone and than a year and a half later come back and make claims I got ripped off.

Also, I been searching on the net and have found some [Tokico Blues] for about $340 bucks. Others about $450.

Is it possible that I am looking at knock-offs? What do these struts usually go for?

Dude, go to the effin ford dealer and ask them for a price on this part number

m-18000-z2

They will be cheap and new and made by tokico. Do a search for ZX-2 stuff in the suspension forum and you will get what you need.

hmm sounds tempting. But I dont feel like doing that.
How about you call them instead and get a price quote. Also get a price quote for a 302 V8. Ask them if it will fit my MX3. Dont forget to ask them if they make a oil pan gasket. I know they dont but just ask them

I got a quote today at $247.40USD from a dealer...then I found a website that had them for 179.99USD. it's Jegs.com.

Anywho, I had a question. They improve handling (since they are "racing engineered" or whatever), but how is the ride quality?

Depends on what springs your using. For a stock spring u proly won't feel much difference, they just have a quicker rebound then other shocks, will eat up the bumps better
