Lowflyinmx3- 94 GS

Post by lowflyinmx3 »

So I've finally decided to start a worklog on my GS. I've owned it for 3 years now and bought it off one of the old school mx-ers from here. I used to own a 94 RS and after selling it I knew I had to get another. After searching for close to 3 years I finally found this one. I drove up to columbus and hauled it back down. I got a hell of a deal on it because it had tranny problems. Turned out to be a hole in the clutch line. 18$ from mazda and it was back on the road. It's been my summer car and I spent a lot of time autocrossing last summer. After a side project with a miata and then a porsche 914, I decided I really just wanted to tune this. The plan is to start tearing it down when winter comes and have it ready for summer. Bought a 93 probe from some guy for 300 buck, yanked engine, trans, ecu, and wiring harness from it and sold the body to a guy for 300 bucks so it was basically free haha. I'm going to keep it n/a until the new mega squirt 3 comes out then i'm going turbo.

Right now all thats done to it is the standard mods. Prm intake, obx short shifter, and kyb gr2 struts with eibach springs. Oh and corbeau seats. I've started some interior work as well.

Pictures to follow below, let me know what you think.

I like it.
The only eyesore is, in my opinion, the bra, and the inconsistent marker lights (clear in the front-red in the back).
And call me a freak, but i do like the interior...

I only would install Fiber Carbon Frame in the gauge, just to make it a little less whiter, hehe

The white was like that when I got it. I have yet to find a 94+ in the junk yard to switch it back. That is on my to do list. I've thought about trying to get something to take it off but I don't want to mess up the panels while doing it.

the bra is covering up some major rock chips. The previous owner never removed it so it has a very bad "farmers tan". I haven't decided on whether I should go with carbon fiber or another stock hood

freeeaaaks!! haha jk
its not so bad...could be worse, could be better. but i agree if it was a white car it'd look a lot better. or just not as much white in there.
nice find lowflyin, outside looks real clean.

So I'm trying to remove the paint from my interior but I don't know what I can use without destroying the plastic. Any ideas? I've tried pressure washing it but only small sections came off.

Did a quick search:
Bumper stripper will work. (not sure of any name brands)
DOT 3 brake fluid
brake cleaner (but may make plastic brittle)

Or just get a can or two of paint to match the interior paint code and repaint? (EA5 is the color code)

Cool. My concern was harming the plastic. Thanks. I'll see what DOT3 does.
