That's what supports the spindle assembly to the lower suspension arm. The end with the stud (no rubber boot) bolts to the lower suspension arm with an extra bolt through the hole in the middle, and the shaft in the other end (rubber boot) goes to the spindle assy.

if you jack up your front end so the tires are off the ground, put one hand on the top of the tire, one on the bottom, and try to wiggle the tire( there shoudlnt be any play, if there is, replace the balljoint). the balljoint controls how much play/movement the tire has in either of those directions, where as if you were to put one hand on each SIDE of the tire and wiggle it the other direction, thats where your tie rods come into play...hope this helps give you an idea as to what the balljoint does. they are literally so simple to do once you've done em once, youll be laughin. :welder:

Simple, yes. But that bolt going through the spindle, clamping the ball-joint post can be a real whore.

I don't know.
How much is it (including shipping), and which brand?
Advance Auto Parts has the MOOG lower ball joints for $ 54.99 each, and Moog is very good stuff. I don't think it'd be a good idea to save money there...

Ball joints are cheap at your local parts store outlaW, there's really no need for ebay in that case.

Typically the cheaper ones at the parts store will have a one year warranty, and the more expensive ones at the parts store will have a lifetime warranty.
