i changed the timing belt out of ma mx3 4cyl. automatic cause it was parked for a month and it was out of time so i put it on time and it doesn't start what could it be? thanks

You probably have it 180 degrees off. Take the belt off, turn the crankshaft one full turn, and put the belt back on.

whoa whoa whoa..... before you go taking it all apart and turnin your cams 180 degrees check it, you could have it right or even a tooth off. check for fuel and spark too!

An easy way to time the b6d is to take out the spark plugs.

in cyl. 1, place your oil dipstick in the combustion chamber till it rests on the piston face.

Turn your crank slowly until it's at the HIGHEST possible point, TDC.
Double check the timing on the crank pulley.

Align the timing to that STUPID timing plate. Pain in the arse. Can't stand that timing plate. Couldn't they think of ANY better way to do it? Grumble grumble grumble...

I just take a piece of paper, put it on the knotched tooth, and make sure it aligns properly on the timing plate.
