Starting problems
Hi Guys,
This past weekend I had a meeting about 250km's away from home.
It started on friday, I got stuck in traffic and my engine just started to idle @ 2500rpm
When I was at the meeting I had to drive to another field. Again the high rpm. When I parked it, and I wanted to start the car, it wouldn't.
After waiting half an hour it was oke and it started again.
Sundayafternoon I was about to drive home. Driven a small distance to a gas station, everything fine.
When I wanted to start the car after refilling, the thing would start anymore !!
Again, waiting half an hour, and it would start again.
After this I could just drive the remaining 230 km home.
Does this have anything to do with my iginition??:(
Btw it was about 86 degrees / 30 degrees

Re: Starting problems
If it turned over (meaning the engine was cranking) but just wouldn't start, then I wouldn't think it was your ignition.
Did you pull the spark plugs at all to inspect them? May just need a tune up, or if there is oil in the spark plug wells, then you would need to replace the valve cover gaskets. I know when my valve covers were bad, I had oil in the spark plug wells, car wouldn't start unless I pulled the plugs and cleaned them off, or sometimes just letting it sit and trying again later worked.

Re: Starting problems
The engine cranking has nothing to do with the ignition system, just the starter.

Re: Starting problems
I had problem on 88 civic that would not start after it has warmed up. Turned out to be distributor cap

I agree, but on the other hand. A broken starten wouldn't cause my idle to go to 2500rpm

Re: Starting problems
This is just a gues and may not be right. I had a similar problem to this a few years ago, but my engine would also die (on rear ocations) when I was driving and put it in idle. It also wouldent start when warm. I found the problem to be a hole (or diconected, cant remember) vacum hose near the air filter (3 hoses).
But then again your problem seems to be alittle difrent, so it's just a gues.
