Can I use this IM for ZE?

Post by melb30x »

Hi guys, got a question for you.
I'm trying to find a curved neck ZE here in Australia so I don't get raped for shipping costs from US and I'm having a lot of trouble.
This intake manifold..is it usable?

Image

I know it looks weird...the guy selling the engine says it fits onto a ZE.

Thanks for any help!

Lol there is no reason you can't fit the straight neck IM in your bay. I live in Adelaide and I did without any probs.

Unlike USA we have less fitment issues because we are RHD and not LHD.

Btw I can't see the injectors on that. Hope you don't pay too much.

If he bought a ZE and just wants to change the manifold, the fuel rails will be on the motor, he just needs to swap them!

Some people like the curve neck because it flows better apparently.

Flow is better through the curved neck manifold. I have data laying somewhere around I can show you.

I'm buying injectors for a turbo - 280cc Millenia S Injectors off se7en. :)

Unless there's more than 10HP difference and some torque too I call bs, it's simply dyno variance IMO. Yes I would love to see some evidence of this.

x2

Seen plenty of dynos between curve neck and straight neck and the only variance is the curve for torque, numbers have been to close to say 1 gives you more power than another. The problem here is this, unless both engines are dynoed at the exact same time (within a few hours of each other) on the same exact dyno & location, any numbers become flawed. I can dyno at one dynojet, and go across town and dyno at another dynojet and get 2 completely different numbers. But from what I've seen in the 7+ years of playing with these engines is that the numbers have always been to close to say 1 engine gives better power over another, the only dead noticeable difference in them is where the torque is (difference of cams) and where the increase in power lies (difference of vris points).

hm..some guy on astinagt posted some data on it..don't know if it was correct but i'm saying what i hear and read obviously and not from personal experiece.
but, i will try to find that data and show you then you can interpret.

either way, curved neck would still be easier to install wouldn't it?

here it is:

http://www.alljapanesecars.com/specs...mc=ta5y&gn=" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; 1
taken from: http://www.alljapanesecars.com" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

basically it says curved necks reach max torque at 4800 while straight neck reach at 5500.
