I shaved the lettering off, and sanded them before painting them, and then color sanded them afterward. They still look great.CrimsonReign1 wrote:do you know what the laws for smoked lights are in BC? do you have to wet sand and clear coat the VHT?

Nah it shines through just fine, it's just burnt orangeish. I used Pactra Racing Finish RC294 Window Tint. I got it from a hobby store in the US (Hobbytown USA to be exact). I'll get some pics at night if I can, but my camera doesn't have flash so it may turn out funny lookin._-Night-Shade-_ wrote:I'd like to see how it looks with the turn signal on. Cause it looks like you overdid it and no light can shine through lol

Pactra is good, but more expensive than VHT, in case anyone cares.

Re: DIY Smoked (tail, bumper, side) lights?
so i did a lighter tint to kinda keep the color of the markers, they appear amber/red at different angles but black at most angles. also used clear coat
sorry, car's kinda dirty
you can see how you can still see the color in the rear marker

They look good.
I do hope you wash it soon, though.

some night time shots, the tint is noticeable by the sides of the markers.
i wonder how Thassodar's look cause i did loose a bit of brightness but probably only half the tint Thassodar used

You're not kidding, mine are not near as bright as yours. Looking at yours makes me think I did it a bit too dark. Oh well, I promise I'll get some night pics up soon.Evo_Spec wrote:some night time shots, the tint is noticeable by the sides of the markers.

What did you do to your poor bumper
Re: DIY Smoked (tail, bumper, side) lights?
You think his bumper is bad? You don't want to see mine. Here are the pics I promised.
GOOD JESUS THOSE PICS ARE BIG.
They aren't TOO dark, I'm sure you can see them at night just fine. During the day though, I dunno.

Just gonna emphasize checking with your local law enforcement before painting your taillights! I live in the Fraser Valley and called my local cop shop. Found out that this modification is illegal in British Columbia
