lots of pedal before stopping..SOMETIMES

So sometimes when I start the car,warm it up and go,my brakes seem to have alot of pedal until the brakes work..but after I drive for a few km's they work awesome. Any ideas? Do I need to warm the car up longer?

is your booster vacuum hose kinked in any way? can you hear vacuum leaking?
