Yea I am going to keep mine all shinny...
Hmm I will have to find a Millenia TB and see if I can do this... I hear if you bore the K8 TB it can go into the IAC!

Just a question: how much of a performance increase would you potentially see when boring out your TB? Last time I did that it was negligable... pretty much not worth it. Different circumstances I'm sure, but still :)

I look at it as one of those final touches, when you've done enough stuff to your engine, that it actually makes a difference, but it's still not a huge one. By itself, it's hardly worth it. Beside, I didn't actually bore it out! I just "coned" it. My goal is for smooth airflow. In my intake, the only part that isn't a smooth transition is the air filter. I had my TB off to put in MegaSquirt, so I thought I'd just cone it out while I was at it. I filed it so the mouth of it meets the martini shaker smoothly, and it transitions down to the diameter of the butterfly, without having to touch the butterfly itself.
I've dramatically increased the flow of the intake, and exhaust enough that I think this will make a little difference (maybe a couple HP  ).

I did a couple things today that I've always wanted to do...
I put on an underbody cover for better aerodynamics.. well, a template, anyway. I'm going to make it out of Aluminum, but this one will do for a while.

Image

I took an election sign, cut it to fit, and did a bunch of stuff to make it stay. I just did from the lip, to just behind the front wheels.

Image

I'll do the rear bumper to just before the rear wheels, since it's like a parachute down there, and maybe the middle.

I'll get better pictures when she's off the ground.
Also, I fully wrapped my exhaust. I believe this will give me a little more power, and mpg. If not.. I had an excess of wrap, and some time.

Image

To keep the elements off, I wrapped it with "High Heat" tape from Home Depot that's rated up to 260°F. It turns out it's the same old Aluminum tape I've been using for years, and was going to use, anyway. The difference is: This tape is wider, and costs 3X as much :crying: You know how I am about spending money
I used "Tall Boy" cans in strategic places, such as where the shifter touches the exhaust sometimes, and the ends of the wrap. It's completely waterproof (until I hit something and tear it). At which time, I'll repair it. The car actually sounds quieter, but the mind is powerful with wishful thinking.

Image

I'll take the exhaust temp, and compare it to the stock GS some day.

Now we can talk about our forum having politics.......as an aerodynamic under-tray  But seriously, cool idea.

Thanks :)
I'll make the rear one out of porn, so we can talk about politics and sex at the same time! Ultimate social faux pas.
It also worried me to not have any splash trays, so now I don't flinch every time I hit a puddle.

I noticed a good improvement in responce, and I think I gained just a bit higher up in the revs...

I have seen dyno sheets that with boring out TBs you lose a bit in the low but gain up top.

We should build some taller steel ramps for your car so you can get under a bit easier.

Man, that ride has come a long way since your visit. Nice.

I like how most of your mods are made of kitchenware and household items. 8)
