You may have connected the belt wrong. Did you put a new belt on or leave it the way it was when you got it? Coolant would be circulating very slowly if belt was put on the wrong side of the pulley. Either way, check it. If this isn't the case, you need a new waterpump, or something is blowing coolant flow - should replace the timing belt too if you're going through the hassle of it.

How do you know coolant is actually flowing? If it just bubbles after a little, its because its boiling.

If this is all good, you've got a bad headgasket. Happened to me w/ my first ZE.

Swap out your temp sensor from the K8 to the KF see if that helps. Feel the radiator and see if it's getting hot if it is the water should be circulating.

I recently blew a hose fitting on the heater core. I changed the thermostat just to be safe and refilled the rad with the engine running after fixing the hose as best i could. On restart the temperature went very high. The fans did eventually come on but the engine did not cool. I confirmed that the coolant was circulating and still no answer.

I then realized that the engine block was not full of coolant. So the sensors were sensing air temperature not coolant temperature. You have to refill the cooling system at both filler necks with the engine running. Let the engine cool completely. Refill the block (the filler neck on the timing side) until it is just below the top of the neck and watch it for a minute or so to be sure a large air pocket doesn't come out and lower the level. Once the block is full close it and fill at the radiator neck...still with the engine running...until no more bubbles.

If you already did all that...I can't help you.

Do you have the car jacked up (both sides?) Are you trying to spin the tires w/ the car in gear?
