I am thinking of Nitrous.

Post by dan031287 »

I have a k8 with custom cold air intake custom exhaust lowered all the way round. and i am currently thinking of running a 30hp shot of nitrouse on stock internals. what do yuo guys think? good idea bad idea? engine has been well seviced every 3000 miles or so preasure tested to make sure no leaks or bearing problems with big end. cambelt and tensioner all recently changed? any feed back would be greatly apreciated.

Should be able to handle up to 75 shot on stock internals. Tuning, tuning, tuning. Get the computer working first!

You can/cannot really do that, for a 50-75 shot of nitrous all you would really need is a better fuel pump and a fuel pressure regulator.. ECU tunning isnt really needed that badly for that much nitrous. You could get away with it with the above setup

i am a aware of that what i was going to do is wet shot so patch into the preasurized fuel line and attatch that to the fuel solonoid? rather than do dry shot?

Thats a good idea, a wet shot into the fuel is gonna be alot safer and more efficient as you will get a equal shot into the cylinders. If you are going wet you proly only need a 60 shot to suffice as it is more efficient.

I am proly gonna run a 75 wet shot on my ZE this year.

50 wet shot will be fine. Drop your plugs down one step colder. Make sure to replace your fuel filter when splicing in the fuel soleniod just to be on the safe side.

A wet 75 shot will be fine on a K8, you could run a two stage system to have a total off a 100 shot

fit a wideband and start out on a 35 shot and then start upping the shot size but still try not to lean
the motor out.

One safely feature is fitment of a throttlebody switch so it can only be activated at full throttle
other wise you can use MSD window switches to stage the RPM of the shot.

yea thats what i was going to do a micro switch that only alloud the Nitrous to be release at WOT (wide open throttle) im going to build it my self with different bits and pieces. im also going to build my own pulsoid which will allow me to graduate the injection of fuel and nitrous. im hoping to hit close to the 200 wbhp as possible. but i will keep you guys updated. im just waiting for a CAM tensioner to arrive once it has got here and fitted i will start on the nitrous system

Building a nitrous kit should be no problem. I ran a 100-shot WET on my KLZE MX-3 for some time. The motors can handle it fine.

All you will need is a fuel pump on anything over a 50-shot. No FPR is needed, and just run the stock Ford Probe GT spark plugs those are good for over a 100-shot of nitrous and still give you a good peppy feelin all-motor.
