14" wheels on GS?

Post by Flyer »

Has anyone tried to fit 14 inch wheels on the GS? Not sure if it will clear the brakes, and I lack a spare set of 14" rims to test it myself...

I have...they don't.

I put my 14's from my old RS on my GS for winter and couldn't figure out what the noise was cuz it was only while I was turning. Caliper rubs when you go around corners.

Bah, guess I will stick with the 15" tires...

Yeah, when I start spinning the wheels in slush with winter tires, while in second gear, it would be time for new tires...

So wait.

Front rotors on the GS are bigger than RS?

Front rotors on a GS are vented, the RS are not. The caliper is a lot wider.

There the same setup as if you were to look at:

91-96 Escort LX = MX3 RS brake system
91-96 Escort GT = MX3 GS brake system

about a year ago i had brand new front calipers on my RS and i thought i would switch them to my GS, they rubbed and smoked down the road and i couldnt understand it. i did a caliper service on my GS calipers while they were out and then put them back in, and left it that way.

maybe thats why they were rubbing?
