Whiteline swaybar/ Wytbishop endlinks Positive feedback ;)

Post by fowljesse »

I found myself at the edge of my car's performance, pushing it to the point of understeer a little too often.
A civil person would back off a little, and drive more safely.
I chose to upgrade, so I can drive this way more safely
When Wytbishop made the endlinks, I knew I'd need them sooner, or later, and hoped for sooner.
My girlfriend got me a Whiteline swaybar for Christmas, knowing I "needed" it :)
So, off to the shop I went... Cjthor's shop!
They looked like they would be easy to put on :confused2:
They guy I got the car from put on Polyeurethane swaybar bushings that were made for another car, and made the metal straps that hold them in place, because they are wider than stock. They worked great, but I got harder poly bushings with the swaybar, and needed to grind them down to fit the OEM sized bushings.
Also, the endlink on the driver's side was seized, so I had to cut it off.
Long story not quite as long, We put it all together, and they work great!
I preloaded the swaybar by adjusting the driver's side endlink to be longer. I'll explain why later :|
On the drive home, I took some turns faster than usual, and there was no understeer!
I thought that the ride would be more harsh, but it wasn't!
I will do some more "testing" soon!
So far, I'm impressed :D

We also confirmed that an RS and GS use the same diameter of rear swaybar. Both are 20mm stock. The Whiteline is 22.2!

I recommend thoroughly lubricating the end links with something like white lithium. The spherical bushings are PTFE lined, but the adjusting nuts and bodies of the links, like any fastener, will eventually begin to rust. A healthy dose of a good sticky lube will keep them in great shape for a long time.

The sway bar, end links and chassis bushings should not affect ride comfort much, if at all. But as you said it will have a noticeable impact on handling. I'm still working on solving my machining issues for the Nylatron sway bar bushings, but I think they will be awesome when I get it sorted.

What I was expecting was the rear end wiggle. With this type of rear suspension, there can be some wiggle when one side hits a bumb, and it pulls the other side up. It happens badly on my stock car. I was concerned that it would happen since there is alot more force translated to the other wheel now. I barely felt it once last night when I went over a pothole. It didn't affect anything, though.
