10000k? Why? That is so blue, you are gonna get pulled over instantly. Get some 4300k's, that is what I got for my winter car and they are way better then the 6k's I had a year back

Well, I believe there are issues with non-stock lighting, but I'm not sure about that.

4100-4300k has the most lumens, thus the most usable light. If and when I get HID, I'm going 4300.

J-Beef has a good write-up on HID's
http://www.mx-3.com/phpBB3/viewtopic.php?f=38&t=48235" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

I think my sister's boyfriend has 8000's in his Spec-V, and they're pink/purple, and he's the only one I've seen in the area with those lights, so I know it's him comming for MILES, literally! He got pulled over once for them, the cop gave him a bit of a hard time but no ticket.

I liked the blue color too, but it started buggin my eyes after awail, especially on long distance trips. The 4300k looks like a nice white light with a tiny bit of blue. It puts out the most light and lights the road up nice. The blue to me is only for appearance, and anytime I see some dude with bright blue lights I know automatically he has HID's. Cops are starting to crack down, because its illegal to have blue lights on your car. If you go buy some of those shitty xenon lights, you will see that they are for off road use only, now times that by 5 and you got 6-10k HIDs. I installed a 12k kit on a buddies chevy truck and they were crazy blue. A week later cop pulled him over and he had to take hte lights out. Definitely something that a cop would notice, I was scared to drive at night with my 6k kit.

Anyways, just some food for thought from a guy that has had a few kits and has sold/installed a ton.

Legally speaking, thh only colours allowed on the front for passenger vehicles are white and amber. Maybe yellow as foglights, but that is about it. any other colour is grounds for a ticket.

As to whether you will get pulled over and ticketed, that is mainly up to officer discretion. It basically boils down to if they say your light is blue and it even has the slightest hint of blue, it's blue and you get a ticket...

Indeed. Of course yellow fogs are legal, some vehicles have them stock, but also, yellow would be in the "amber" range...

I think, and you may want to check, but the color of the light I believe for Ontairo was in relation to having a covering on the light to change it color, rather than the color emmitted by the bulb itself. So since HID's color is naturally emmitted, it could technically be legal.

As long as it emits a blue coloured light, it is absolutely not legal. Having a cover just gets you an added charge of obstructing the light...
