quick question

Post by sideeffecct »

I change my right driver side axle on my JDM 94 mx-3 after changing i realised my tyre is eating at a rapid rate on the inside so i look at the wheel while driving and realised the wheel was lying down with the top of the wheel way in kinda like this (\)...I remove the axle and measured ti witht the original and found the original to be longer than the replacement. could that be the reason why its eating faster on the inside and lying down like that....

when you picked up your replacement, did you order a "drivers side" or right side?

Isn't the wheel held in place by the control arm/ball joint and spindle? I thought the only thing that affected camber was the strut/spring being lower...

I would think a smaller axle would not even work or just wear out quickly since everything would be stretched...

Axles don't affect camber. What part of the suspension did you unbolt to replace the axle?

The length of the axle cannot affect the position of the spindle. If it was like 1" too short, the CV joint would just separate.

Did you put your strut caps in the right position? You may just be in serious need of an alignment.

That's odd. Axles shouldn't pull on anything. They're designed to telescope out if more length is required. Sounds like a faulty axle.

How are you putting these in? An axle has no way of pulling/pushing the wheel in. If it is too short...as someone said...it will pop out of the transmission.. Ive been there done that.
