Dissalbing the ABS system!! HELP!

Post by colinsmx3 »

Anyone know how to Dissable the ABS system? I want to try something but my SE has ABS and I want to "unplug it" to check something. Anyone? I know there will be a light on the dash but that don't matter! :welder:

Take the sensors out on the front hubs and zap strap em to the strut, that is what I currently have setup as the hubs I swapped in are non abs hubs.. i still need to fix that..

There's an ABS & ABSPUMP fuse in the fusebox.....

Or you can unplug the connectors going to the ABS module (passenger side floorboard - close to center).

Yea, I have 4 wheel ABS in my 93 and front wheel in my 92 IIRC.

I think in the states it was a option and standard on canadian cars

What's so special about our cars that they wouldn't need ABS?

ABS is a safety feature. Having it is safer than not having it, especially if you drive in the rain or snow a lot. The car would run fine without ABS, and some models do, but if you have the option to have it, I don't see why not.

Hmm, you try pulling the fuse(s)?

The ABS module is under the passenger seat, could try unplugging that too

Yeah my Canadian 93 RS definately does not have ABS. I have all the connectors for it, though, so it must have been an option...

well my abs sensors died.. so it was either spend hundreds of dollars to diagnoze and repair the abs... ir simply iunplug the unit at the engine bay...

i dont knowwhat the hell was wrong with it.. it would make alot of noise when the car was SHUT OFF..

so i removed sensors, remoevd fuse and uplugged electrical power to the abs unit. Car feels the same. I guess because abs has never really worked in my car.

When does ABS ever engage aside from on gravel or ice? I'd think you have zero ice in Texas.... Seems like a stupid option for coastal climates.
