Speed sensor... Which one do I need? Distributor... holes??

Post by lazzer408 »

1st: I put a BP in my 3 and I need to know which electronic speed sensor fits the Protege G trans??

2nd: There are 4 holes in the distributors shutter wheel that set the position of the single shutter in relation to the 4 window shutter. What are the steps to position the wheels correctly?

ps: I've already tried the search. I never have any luck with it. =(

by shutter are you talking about the rotor? I believe the rotor can only go on one way, at least that is the way with the DOHC.

I'm talking about the hall effect shutter. The CAS.

I found a sensor from a ~97? 626 automatic that fit my G-series Protege manual and also has the right connector for the mx3. It lasted 8.4 miles. :( I opened it up and whatever was in there, spinning inside the pickup coil, was a big glob of mush. I dunno wtf happened. Maybe when I sprayed off the grease with brake-clean some got inside. I'll try another tomorrow. 626s are all over the yards.

So there is no Mazda on the planet that used a G-series trans and electric speedo??

I did find a sensor to work but I have to mount it turned to the right and made a clip to hold it in. Apperently the shaft of the sensor isn't in the middle. If I try to rotate it to line up the holes, I can feel the gears pinching.
