That's cool.. but I meant the one about how changing your oil too often could be harmful.
I've studied oil, and lubrication, for research on how to get optimal mileage, and have never heard of that.
I concur that AmsOil is one of the 2 best oils commercially readily available, >/= Redline. For the research I've done, I concluded that it's not a couple $'s per quart better than Royal Purple, for my purposes. Maybe I'll try it, though, and see if it affects my fuel efficiency. I almost bought some a couple weeks ago.

The only thing I can see in changing oil often is the oil starvation once the engine is first started after the oil change. I usually fill the oil filter with 1/2 quart to help the oil flow quicker. I know this procedure made a big difference on my Classic Pontiacs.

In older engines - it is rumored that if you change oil many times within a short period - it "flushes" out the sludge deposits on the gaskets leading to seal breakdown and oil leaks. It is based on anecdotal evidence concerning old engines (like 130+K) and nobody in their right mind uses synthetics in an old engine anyway....

By the way Amsoil has an interesting standpoint - they dont allow independent regulatory agencies to test their oil.... Which doesnt mean anything in the grand scheme of things i think....

Good idea!
I used to do that, but totally forgot, somehow. I'm going to do it from now on.

I need to find a dealer sometime since I"m running low on reserves... but maybe I could become a dealer then we would both get a great price on Amsoil - especially if you insist on changing it every 3k miles :D
