pms going to outbox, not being sent?

pms going to outbox, not being sent?
my pms have been going directly to my outbox folder, and are not showing up in the sent folder. i'm assuming they're not being sent. any reason why this would be happening? i'm in the middle of selling some parts off my car so it's frustrating not knowing if people are getting my pms. any help, much appreciated.

normally with php based forum:
outbox = sent, but has not been read by receiver
sentbox= send, and had been read by reveiver
outbox = sent, but has not been read by receiver
sentbox= send, and had been read by reveiver
