Creaking sound from front wheel turned into loud clicking :o

I started hearing knocks and creaks from the wheels of my car about a week ago, whenever I was going round corners. I was late to work thismorning and had to go pretty quick and now the problems got a lot worse!

The creaking sound has turned to a clicking/popping sound, which is only when turning to the left, but it sounds like something is about to snap off or break! Does anyone know what this might be?

CV joint? Have a look at that post, I found it by searching "turn creaking", seems to come up alot

Think it's definitely the CV joint after reading that.

Only thing is, it feels like its in such a bad state that it's going to snap and I have to get back home after work (9miles) not looking forward to it!!!

haha doubt it will snap as such, but be careful and take it easy, no scandanavian flicks

haha, made it back, the noise on the left hand corners was painful though!

I have a feeling it might be the bearing now, as there is a constant gravelly squealing coming from the wheel...

mine got worse and worse until one day it just broke as I was leaving my driveway. It's kind of inconvenient if your not expecting it, so I'd fix it before that happens

My front end has a constant drone so I'm replaceing my wheel bearings. Have to pull the struts off and bring them in to have the bearings pressed in. If your doing your bearings go to the dealer and buy new cir clips, one for each bearing. Bearings cost me $48 each for the good ones. Good luck too getting the axel nuts off, anyone who's done the job knows what I mean.

can you just do a cv joint repair with a new boot/grease?

Most parts, ball joints, brakes, wheel bearings etc. you can buy the premium or the cheap ones. Cheap is usually fine but won't last as long as the premium parts. Brakes are a good example. I've had cheap brake pads that squeeked every time I stopped so I only buy good pads now but I use cheap rotors because you usually change them every brake change. Stut mounts, I buy good ones, they're only $10 bucks more.
