Re: Mx3 Sport back aka del sol hatch
this post made me think...for weight, why not remove the glass and fill the hole with sheet metal or a large CF piece? It would still have the nice lines, but be way way lighter.Jovian2k wrote:I am really a big fan of this style hatch... just a modified stock w/ no glass

Re: Mx3 Sport back aka del sol hatch
Or, even better: Buy a sheet of clear Polycarbonate (Lexan), and replace the window. It looks stock, and you keep the aerodynamics, and save about 60, or 70 lbs.

Re: Mx3 Sport back aka del sol hatch
But how cool might a louvered full sheet metal hatch look like. Sculpt in a few ridges for strength. If I was a better sketch artist I would render something.
Or a full CF hatch with no glass. Just imagine it.

Re: Mx3 Sport back aka del sol hatch
I was going to do C/F, but I drove without my rearview mirror, and it SUCKED! The Polycarbonate weighs almost the same as a strong enough piece of C/F would (about 16 lbs).

I feel the same way. After the first attempt, I give up trying to read it. There is no point in stressing the brain, unless it is required.fowljesse wrote:I usually skip over posts with no punctuation. To much workI think I'm not the only one...
