Re: Might get a GS
Thanks for the replies, Nah the weather is mostly dry where I live, Wet where I go college. I did not make an offer yet, The owner is off island so I have to wait till he comes back next week. Im still underage too so my mom has to have the car under her so gay but oh well thats how the laws are. She needs to see the car too, I can't wait.. im getting so excited. I still need to sell my car I have now though, I can't pay insurance for both cars so I was thinking of buying the car, Paying for another title and cancel the insurance and leave the car parked at my house (Run sometimes in residental area) until I can sell my car I have now.. possible?

Yeah. Also, you can get cheap insurance for cars that don't go anywhere. I want to get an 80 MPH moped, but the Elite's are hard to find here.

Re: Might get a GS
..Test drove the car today again and talked him about the 1800 offer, He won't sell it for less than $2400.00. He fixed replaced the right side cv boot because it blew with all grease, He changed the clutch slave master, timing belt, all four tires $160.00 each tire, alternator, struts/springs Upgraded exhaust. While test driving I noticed from second gear to first at around 20mph it makes a clank grind sound. In order to prevent that I have to totally slow down from second gear and downshift is this a clutch problem?, There is a squeaky clutch. I need to really think about this, you folks think it is really worth the $2400?

Hmmm. I wish I could say.. I'd have to drive it... maybe someone knows more.. When you say "squeaky", it could be the throwout bearing. I'd take it to a mechanic..
You could see if a car could be shipped from O'Ahu, if you don't get that one, because there are so many cars there, that the Military guys leave, that they are kind of cheap.

Re: Might get a GS
It sounds like a syncro is out, but I never down shift to first. well, until today, I have a K8 that's having problems, and I downshifted into 1st, to keep the rpms up, but it seemed like I couldn't shift until it was going about 5 mph. If it goes smooth through the rest of the gears in all reasonable scenerios, it will prabably be okay. You should ask a mechanic if he would check it out for free, or cheap. Alot of places will do a free inspection for buyers.

Re: Might get a GS
Yea thats what i did with my car. Just call the mechanic ask for a used car inspection and they will give you a heads up on everything that needs to be changed, replaced, or fixed. I highly recomend going that route because im sure you wouldnt want to spend a ton of money replacing a transmission.

I forgot to mention that the AC compressor is bad on the car so there is also no air conditioning

Re: Might get a GS
2400$??? thats way too much for a car with that much mileage.. you'll just end up putting more money into the car as to what you paid!. id talk him way down.. more like around what you were asking for. happy BUYING!

Re: Might get a GS
He's actually asking for $3,000.00 for the car, And he won't accept lower that $2,400, He says he got the car for $3,500.00 and he changed all kinds of things, and plus car service. I think its worth it, it drives pretty nice.

Re: Might get a GS
The prices for these cars differ a lot depending on where your located. Just in Canada, I know that you can get an MX3 for about a grand less on average in the east rather than the west. Just keep that in mind when you consider pricing. If there's nothing else around thats nearly that cheap, it might be your best bet.

Don't forget, he's 2,000 miles from any other civilization! He's lucky to find a single mx-3.
