Headlights Dimming when Pressing Brake Pedal

Post by bluechro »

I've done a quick search but couldn't come up with anything.

Whenever I press the brake pedal, the headlights as well as interior lights dim. Could this be some sort of grounding problem, or am I looking at something wrong with the brakes?

Thanks in advance..

check the output of your alternator, it should be between 11 and 14 if I remember correctly.

I'm pretty sure that happens with most, if not all mx-3s. Assuming they just slightly dim. Mines done it ever since I bought it, even with the ZE and larger alternator.

Alright well if it's a normal problem I won't worry too much about it. I'm planning on installing new ground wires over the next while, so we'll see if that improves anything.

Thanks.

My dash lights dim a bit, but I've never seen my headlights dim before.

I don't know, that seems farily significant. I'd think it would be either your alternator or your battery.

A healthy alternator should be running in the high 13v and low 14v range.
