cel 1 long 7 short

ive been searching how to check codes and checked mine cuz my car is idling like crap nd i got 1 long flash then 7 short ones of the cel. i checked a link to atlanta mx3 i got from another search and it showed up o2 inversion im guessing code 17. how would i remedy this probelem o2 or wiring? i never had a cel wen i drove on at idle the car maintains 600 sometimes but it pops like popcorn other times it fluctuates between 100 nd 600. i instaleed a airfuel gauge months ago too just thought id give a good description of work done. the timing belt waterpump wuz done in january so i dnt think it skiiped ne teeth or nething. and lastly the tube from the ex manifold to the intake manifold broke i just exhaust cemented it seeing im turboing the car in a cple weeks nd ill have to block it neways from what i gather from the turbo writeups. thanks again

The code could be due to vacuum leak - especially since you had a leak in the EGR tube - If you had already fixed the leak - reset the computer and see if it comes back.
