Leedeth - 1992 MX-3 RS

Post by Leedeth »

First of all, thanks for checking out my worklog. This one will basically be a summary of everything, and more focused on the major mods.

I have a more detailed page at my website: http://leedeth.wordpress.com/mx-3/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

My thread at SS covers my day to day maintenance and other stuff: http://www.standardshift.com/forum/view ... =23&t=8235" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

I got this car in Vancouver, BC, at a used car lot, for $3400. Mileage: 236,731 km.

The first thing I did was take off that horrid "Metro" badge and license plate frame.

A few weeks after I got her, my dad drove her to work and had something go wrong and had it towed to the shop. Apparently a clip that holds a pin in place in the front brakes was missing and came loose. That shop was going to do some work on the car that day anyway so he got them to do it at the same time. It cost a total of $1245.85 to do the following:

-Replace distributor O-ring to fix oil leak
-Replace timing belt
-Replace front braking system (rotors, calipers, pads, fluid)

Near the end of August, I took her out for a fun run and ended up with a hole in a downpipe flange. My dad ended up taking her to the shop and getting a whole new OEM cat-back without telling me, and they just welded the hole shut. It cost $425.45.

Yeah I got screwed over there...I could've got some nice new parts instead.

Got some Toucan Ractive strut bars off Ebay: $18 part + $36 shipping + $20 duty = $74.

It was bent, typical Ebay, lol.

Took off the intake duct forward of the air box. Sounds a bit better and louder now.

That's it for now. Cheers!

Looks good so far. Have fun with it!
Also, it looks like your hood emblem is technically upside down, and getting rid of the "metro" badge was a good call :lol:

I vote clean your poor passenger headlight.

Stupid jerk keying your car... I would be severly pissed. Insurance cover it?

Thanks guys.

I already did a bit of cleaning with some Meguiar's PlastX. Still a bit duller than the left though.

Insurance didn't cover the scratch, I didn't bother making a claim. Not worth it to have my insurance go through the roof. She still carries the scar to this day.
