Typically I drive with both hands on the wheel, and only grab the shifter to change gears, but I decided to rest my hand on the shifter today and noticed it vibrates quite a bit, especially at higher RPMs. I can also feel some of that vibration through the clutch pedal and a bit through the gas. Somewhat odd, I'd say.
How much vibration is typical/acceptable?
How much vibration should I feel through shifter and clutch?
Re: How much vibration should I feel through shifter and clutch?
jus a thought, a shifter from my experience normally vibrates. if u feel like somethin is turnin rather then a vibration (hard to explain what i mean) but possibly ur tranny fluid could be low or to full. thats what happened with mine. i added fluid and it was fine. could it be possible the shifter link under the car is vibrating off the exhaust? good luck!

Check your bushings in the linkage. See if there is any play.
Check your trans fluid.
Check your break fluid.
It is normal for the cars shifter to have lots of play. After all some of these cars are as old as some of the memebers...

and I'm guessing if you are using aftermarket bushings (like SRD) it may vibrate more since everything is stiffer? (I'm not positive just guessing)

Stock bushings.
But yeah, I'll check the linkage and fluid. Thanks.

Re: How much vibration should I feel through shifter and clutch?
I kind of thought that worn engine mounts would be one of the leading causes for vibration. Am I wrong on this?
I know there are a TON of issues here and there that can cause the car to vibrate, but if it's well maintained and no mechanical issues... wouldn't it be about time for the MX-3's to get some new mounts? 13-15 years is a good bit of lifetime...
