Guys, I hate to tell you this, but I went for a cruise with a semi-friend who drove an MX-6. He dropped a type R into it. It was moderately impressive, though. hauled pretty good, didn't get past 280km though. I can't say I hate the engine, or that it sucks. Not that I had experince with it either :) I thought my 1.6L SOHC was aluminum? maybe just the head? But it's definately too heavy to lift to carry anywhere. So I suppose not...

Did you just say, "didn't get past 280 km/hr," implying that that's slow?? :?
Are you perhaps on crack?

As far as I know, Mazda makes the lightest production engine to HP. I had one. It didn't have any pistons.
The best engine for HP to wieght ratio that I know of is a turbine from a helicopter. Jay Leno has one in a motorcycle. I want one for my MX-3.

His buddy's got an Acura RSX that can break 310. It was pretty amazing though, not slow, for sure... but who knows when the timing belt or something blows that that speed :D

top speed means exactly nothing. Having a transmission even capable of doing 300 seems like a waste to me since you are sacrificing a lot of acceleration for that.

That and there isn't a track out here, these guys use them on the streets/highways, which are also of VERY poor quality in most of Manitoba.... its not my scene. But it is cool to pass someone like they're doing almost 100 in reverse.

there's a track in Gimli. There's no excuse to be doing that kind of speed on public roads especially when there's other vehicles on the road.

You also live in the country... ever think of what happens if a deer or something runs out in front of you?

If a deer were to run in front of your car at that speed you would be cooked!

Yeah, I know they're morons... all the rich spoiled kids (parents buy their cars and supply the money for mods) they drive like @#%es too.
We could have a track in Steinbach and they'd still use the roads.... Personally I hate them for having so much money and no responsibility.

AGREED! my dad only helped me for 200 dollars of my MX-3. but then again, it cost me only 400, however, i did pay for all the parts and did my own labor on getting it running again. i hate spoiled brats who take what is given to them for granted. my MX-3 may as well be my baby with how well i've taken care of her.

jeeze, passing someone at 300+.... Imagine if they wanted to change lanes. It wouldn't even matter if they shoulder checked, you'd be so far back that they wouldn't be able to see you and you'd still smash into them after they changed lanes.

it's statements like this that I just find very hard to believe... an RSX that can go almost 200mph? there's not many cars in the world that can do that let alone an RSX...
