The car had the KL-ZE engine but needed some TLC, new balljoints, and new CV joints. I dont have pictures of me putting in the ball joints and CV joints but here are the problem spots when I got it.

Here is the tear down and rebuild from parts off my dead SE. pretty much I just jacked both the fenders and a door off the dead one and put them on the fast one. ive got a full drift kit that Ill probably end up putting on there after I fix some of the more important things.

Here is the new door and fender in place and ligned up. Ive got a door popper set as well that Ill end up rewiring later down the road.

I didnt cut the wiring on the fast car. I took the time and unclipped it all and rethreaded it through the new door.

And lastly for the fast car is the passenger side fender. Its black because my old one was hit on the front passenger side corner and the engine gave out while I was rebuilding her. But atleast the black one isnt all beat the f* up.

Decided if Im going to work on the car I should have a worklog so I cut and pasted the sale ad here and edited it abit. Yesterday I swapped over the passenger side front hub from the dead MX-3 to replace the protege hub that was on there when I bought the car. I also replaced the outer tie rod end while I was in there. Next will be rehooking up the power steering.

Alrighty so I put the car up and the jack yesterday. I thought that mnemonic had said that he looped the PS pump back on itself for some unknown reason? Turns out he told me the pump was bad so ill be replacing that today if the weather permits. Im still planning on selling the car but Im preparing to keep it if this current deal doesnt go through. Anyway I tool a couple pics of the PS lines to find out which ones were looped back (turned out the pump was just bad and I was on crack and dreamed up the loop thing, I do that sometimes). The pictures are pointless but I figured if I took them I mise well share them so here they are.

Ok well just to let you guys know Ive moved over to Photshop express and Im having some issues with the links. I moved from photobucket cause this one is better and my work doesnt block images from there. Anywho Im having issues with the links and Ive got to bounce on to Diff EQ. Ill fix them later.

you should pull all of the power stearing crap out and do the steering rack depower mod that bpt323 did on clubprotege.com it works freaking great plus you don't need to buy a new pump that way and you can clear out all of the useless PS gear from the engine bay

I looked at that guide and thought about it but I cant stand driving without the power steering now....lol. It takes some getting used to but I think I still would like to fix it and have the power steering rather than cut it out completly. I know X'ing all that crap frees up some weight and gets rid of some of the load on the pulley system to free up HP but its just not worth it to me. I cant think of an advantage worth taking it all out, doing the mod and having to deal with non power steering. If I were going to track the car I would probably feel different but at this point I like PS.

When I got the car it had a protege hub on the pass side. I decided to cut it out cause after replacing the CV joints it was clickin at low speeds on the pass side and I figured that was the cause and I would rather have matching MX-3 parts rather than a ball joint from this car and this from that blah blah blah. Any who I replaced the tie rod end on the old hub I took out of my dead MX-3 and had to cut the tie rod knob off the hub in the ZE (didnt have a torch to heat it up at the time). Its great now. NO clicky clicky!!!

Old hub with the new protege ball joint on it. Replaced it with an actual MX-3 hub with new tie rod end and ball joint.

Well...I sold the car. That makes this thread effectively dead. Hopefully ill find a 94+ RS or GS someday and starts playin with that. We shall see.
