75lb/195lb intake springs/OEM exhaust springs?

Post by dclxvi »

So I'm doing a bit of valve train upgrading on my ZE. But I'm wondering if swapping the intake side valve springs to the Ferrea 75lbs/195lbs springs and leaving the exhaust springs/retainers/locks OEM would have any adverse effects?

I asked Alistair at Interprep about doing just this with their springs etc. He advised against it, he didn't state why, but I was easily persuaded :) I decided to do them all and do it right, so I can be all high revving happy

I also had a brief conversation with a Ferrea rep who bascailly suggested the same thing. So i'm leaning in that direction, does anyone know if I could technically get away with leaving the stock exhaust springs though??

good choice :) You'd probably only end up regretting it, you can make the most of your non floating valves, high reving heads now :D

Just the standard OEM Euro spec, which I believe is the same as US, with the OEM lip on it. Kinda looks smoothed in on the picture, but its not! Though it is on my other mx :D

ya you could get away with leaving the exausut alone. But if your doing the intake. do them all and do it right once and not again. If you ever buy cams in the future your ready.
