ATTN: IMPORTANT TOPIC (Oatmeal)

Post by SuperK »

I randomly posted in the 4cyl tech topic (hey, it was sooo on topic, OK?) complaining I didn't have much luck making my oatmeal taste good with the ingredients I had at the time.

So guys, how do you make your oatmeal taste good (better)?

So far, i've come up with this:

# sugar
# milk (no water)
# cinnamon
# vanilla
# freakin' peanut butter
# nutmeg
# tiny salt

And miraculously, my oatmeal actually tastes good. Should I have a different method of making oatmeal actually taste good?

I need your input!

When making my oatmeal, I'm always unsure of what type of container to put it in, so that I can maximize the enjoyment I get out of it.

For some reason I always end up choosing the same container...in the garbage pail where it belongs.

butter, you say? hmmm, I'll have to try it...
see, my biggest dilemma is:

I'm all out of milk, nutmeg and raisins, brown sugar and peanut butter. They're not expected to be in stock for another week :(

so I've been making oatmeal with sugar, water, salt and vanilla. I found some walnuts and made some nutty oatmeal and that helped it a bit.

what are your options for jams/jellies? you might get inventive and mix in some orange, blueberry, rasberry, or grape spread. Damn now i think of spreads, Best sandwhich in the world is made with a pork chop cooked with spicey muster, then put it on a piece of whole wheat, and orange spread :) So delicious

I have strawberry jam.... that would be good in oatmeal?

And I can't eat any meat other than chicken... maybe some fresh water fish... I once ate a turkey sandwich and threw up all night. Red meat? all week :(

I get "creative" when cooking. If my friends don't see the ingredients, they love it. I once made fried eggs with oatmeal, about 2:1 (mostly eggs), and it was delicious! Eggs, oatmeal, extra virgin Olive oil, butter, fried garlic, fresh ground pepper, cayanne pepper, Italian herb medley, and sea salt (is all I remember).
Always butter in oatmeal.
I had an Italian friend that made oatmeal with just butter, Olive oil, and fried garlic.

SuperK... I'm surprised you haven't posted in the "Official Rant Thread" that's stickied at the top of the "Off-Topic" forum. You're slipping, better tighten-it up.

Or are you just putting the finishing touches on the masterpiece post?

I usually mix my oatmeal with mooneggs along with maybe some brown sugar, butter, milk (I like it really creamy), and if I feel like I need some extra oomph I drop some chocolate chips in
