I have a base rs......

Post by Genius »

I'm interested in swapping a klze into it. I knkow it's easier to by the gs but I didn't want the sunroof or any other power options.

I know that I need the klze, tranny, wiring harness, ecu, vaf and engine mounts. What am I missing and should I consider buying a gs as a parts car? Of course I would also like to swap the rear end unless there are some parts from an mx6 that I can use instead. I know the protege and escort share the same brakes and suspension but what other options do I have?

My main goal is to build a very light weight car with the v6 power plant. I know this is alittle more difficult than a gs swap but I don't see it being that much tougher.

thanks

Use the search function Genius (pun intended), this has been covered many times. You need pretty much everything under the hood of the GS. A GS donor car would be a very good idea.

A very light weight car with a klze would be a 323. Just as complex a swap as doing it into an rs mx3 but lighter.

Also, not all GSs have all those options. I think the only option mine has is A/C. No sunroof, power windows/locks, or even cruise control.

find a cheap damaged gs and just swap out everthing then part out the stuff you are not needing. that way you have it all and wont spend time trying to find parts seperatly.
