GR8's 1993 mx-3 GS

Post by gr8 »

Here is my 1993 Mx-3 GS
With the help of my parents i got it in 2001 for 4,600, it had around 60k on it.
Here are some pic's of what it lookd like. I think this is when i put the radio in it.

I also put some lights on it. I think this was around the time Fast and the Furious came out LOL. Sorry they are small i cant find the original ones that i took.

A few years later i was on a red light and got rear ended by a USPS Semi truck. I cant find any pics of that hope i can find them. Ill load up a video of what the car looks like now and show the trunk inside. The insurance company said my car was worth 1,500 so thats all they gave me.

In 2006 i had 118k on the car i almost didnt pass the IL smog test and the trans was going out so i decided to do the swap.
I got a Ze with a 5 speed trans KL-36 ecu and the whole wire harness around 50k on the motor i paid 1,600 for all of it with shipment.

So here we go take a trip with me back in time as i start my show and tell.

I think this is why i had a problem passing the IL SMOG test.

The red car on the left is my brothers 1990 Nissan 240sx its all apart thats why its under the tarp.

Thats my brother working hard to get the job done.

Well got the 1.8 out and now gota get it ready for the 2.5 and the 5speed trans.

Mostly every thing i need to make it work from my local junk yard. Some things that i didnt show are the motor mounts.

Here is the Ze from a JDM mx-6 straight neck IM and no EGR. I was hopeing i would get the LSD trans but i didnt so its just something ill buy later on. I didnt have the Mazda Millenia IM at the time so i used my KL08. I also used the clutch and slave that came with the motor i didnt take any thing apart.

Well thats about it for the swap i dont think i took any pics of it going in. The rest is just current pics of the car and some stuff that i got for it over the years.

Here it is the beast LOL hahahha i just wanted to see how the rims would look so i did some adobe work to it.
Image

Rocking the old school IL tag matches the back so its still legit.
Image

Image

Image

Image

Here is one pic i got its a view behind the left tail light its starting to rust from where i had to hammer the back out cuz the semi truck.
Image

I got some new trunk interior panels to replace the ones that were messd up in the crash. I also got some other lil goodies
Image

Image

I also go the stainless pipes and home made 2.5" test pipe back.
Image

Image

Image

The next thing i wana do is a turbo it i got a turbo laying around no shaft play almost brand new.
Image

Image

Image

Well thats it for now i still need to take pics of the Millenia IM that im gona use and get some video clips up here. I also did the rear fog like mooneggs has on his mx-3. Ill make sure to take pic of that also.

I took some more pics last night. I think the rear fog light thing isnt that bright im gona look for some brighter bulbs.

This is with just the running light on

Here it is with the Rear Fog
Image

Image

Here it is under a blanket of snow.
Image

Image

Image

The white stuff in the pic is the snow falling. Its been kinda cold around here -7/-10 almost all week. I got a lil problem with my light dimming and my blower motor working slow on idle but work normal when i start too drive. I think its a bad ground. Other then that it starts up and runs like a champ.
Image

I went under the house and went thru all the stuff i kept. I think almost all my OEM parts are here like air intake system, old trans/block/AC lines, exhaust manifolds yup every thing i ever took off. I like to keep my OEM parts cant replace thoes.
Image

Image

KLZE straight neck IM that came with the motor. I think the millenia IM is in a crate with all the new stuff i lost track of all the stuff.
Image

The old block/piston's/heads all just laying around i wonder if i can bore it out and make it a 2.5??? hmmmmm
Image

Image

Image

Here is one of the old piston's this is how it came out the motor. Its been 2yrs since i have lookd at this stuff look at all that carbon and old oil on there.
Image

Image

Image

Well thats it for now im gona bust open that crate 2moro and take some piks and try too get a link for the video. O heres a pic of silly old me i was messn around with photo shop i had nothing 2 do.

haha there's a reason yours is not as bright. The OEM euro tails have a special curved metal piece inside the light to enhance the brightness! It won't matter what bulb you put in there... you'll also notice my tail lights are square as opposed to the light spreading around the reverse light...

awww man :crying: . I know when im gona get them i will match up the lights from 2 diff sets like you did. Im kinda starting to rethink the turbo idea. I think if i turbo it i wont be able to drive it every day like i do now because it could break and then i got no car. Its a hard choice.
