Matt753 - 1996 Mazda MX-3 GS

Post by matt753 »

I finally got around to making my worklog, bought the car last June, here is a list of current modifications and future ones I would like to do.

Current Modifications:

Sound system:
Dual 12" kicker subs
Rockford fosgate amp
JVC deck
Rockford fosgate speakers

NuStart 2-way alarm and remote starter
Momo steering wheel + hub
Momo pedals
Chrome altezza taillights
Momo shift knob
Fixed the horn button, now works with aftermarket steering wheel
Fixed cruise control, now mounted on side of drivers-side seat
16 blue LED's located under dash and seats with illuminated switches
3rd brake light cover, spells: "MAZDA MX-3"
Custom auto craft dual 3" exhaust
All new LED bulbs to replace stock/ugly white/yellowish ones for taillights, signals and side-markers.
Clear signals
Clear side-markers
Vent-guards for windows
Mazdaspeed license plate cover for rear
Mazdaspeed decal on lower-back
Cobra XRS-9930 radar detector
2 x 32 white LED arrays rather than the ugly 192 yellow bulbs for interior lighting
Mazdaspeed seatbelt covers
Painting interior trim: cheers to mazdags94 for the idea and help in getting paint. It will be a metallic-silver like color just like his.
New el-glow gauges
New "carbon fiber" look trim for around gauges
2 new flashing 20 LED brake light bulbs, will post video for sure.

Probably forgot a few things, lol I didn't realize how much stuff I've bought already

Future Plans/Projects

Shortshifter
New seats
Install power locks
Install Power windows
New paint job

I will post pictures of all these soon, when I get more time :D

Here are a few pics, I will keep adding more as I take them until I cover all of the stuff listed above.

In these two interior shots you can see the steering wheel, pedals and shift knob.

Here you can see where I mounted the cruise control. I just ran the wires from behind the wheel down the side, along the floor to the side of the seat where I connected the cruise controller and mounted it to the side of the seat.

Hey, car is looking good. Thanks for the pics of the front with the clear signals. It gives me an idea of what mine will look like when I get them on. Me likes too.

Car looks got man. I like the interior. Mark is right ya need a short shifter and a nice Mazdaspeed shift knob or something...mmmmm nice dash, I have always been debating on swapping the newer style into mine but not sure on it.LOL

The cruise control unit was the same one that was in the car before. It was located on the wheel, so I couldn't use it when i got my new Momo one, so I just took it off the old wheel, mounted it on the seat, and ran the wires down there for it.

Finished a few things this weekend:

Got all of the interior trim painted metallic silver

While I had the dash all apart I installed the new gauges and carbon fiber look for around the gauges. It took
me a while to get the new gauges over the old ones, and also to do the wiring for them, but I got it all together and it looks great. I will get around to taking some pictures in the next few days and put them up.

I also got the 2 flashing brake lights so I put those in and I think my exterior lighting may finally be complete. :D I will try and take a few videos of them so you guys can see them in action.

ooh careful with the flashing brake lights... you can get pulled over if they are too strobish (if that's a word lol) or blinking too fast/bright

I'm only mentioning this from experience...
