Trying to fit new pads on the rear today - first time on this car.
I removed the 12mm bolt, but the caliper and pads would not shift .
Do I need to take off the 14mm bolts that hold the caliper to the hub ?
Online manual was not very helpful........

After removing the caliper bolt, the caliper pivots away from the caliper bracket on a floating pin to allow the pads to be removed. This pin is generally corroded in its bore and will break inside the caliper bracket quite easily. Once it's broken, you're sunk. If you're very lucky, you may be able to work the caliper free on the pin without breaking it...but if it's never been greased, and most haven't, it is unlikely. The problem is, even if you get it to pivot without breaking, it is supposed to float to allow both pads to apply equal pressure. If it's frozen in the bore badly enough that you can't remove the pads, you'll never get it to float.
When faced with this problem, I bit the bullit and bought new remanufactured calipers to avoid the hassle.

They have a brake piston compressor tool, i use it all the time. Takes me less than 15 mins to change out each side. Dont bang on it.. it can cause the piston to seize. If tis already seized.. bleh replace it.. or rebuilt it.
