Okay, it seems my 92 ecu is new enough. I just got the chip in. It's a 28 pin IC chip. Only problem is, i see 4 of them on the ribbon cable side. One has a big shiny black sticker with some numbers on it. Do you know if this is the one that needs to be de-soldered?

yes its the only one witha stciker on it, and its right at the bottom of the PCB Board.

You guys were right. I got one from ebay "innovative autosports" or something like that. Said it would work with an Mx-3 and you don't need a JE-50. I thought it was optional. However the car acted like the VAF was disconnected when i had it plugged in. I went back to my old one and no probs.
