Catback Exhaust Question/New user

Post by mx3mayhem »

So I was looking for a full exhaust setup for my 1994 V6 1.8 Mx-3. I found a catback exhaust setup on ebay and was wondering if you guys could help me out. So the product I found said it is for the 92-93 only. Are the exhaust setups for the 92-93 THAT much different from the 94 or not different at all.
Here is the link to the exhaust:

Please give me a heads up :)

By the way I just created an account here and I have a seafoam green 1994 Mx-3 with white racing stripes. My name is Derin DeNio hi all :)

Most people seem to go with Magnaflow catback. Maybe it's better quality. I haven't heard much good about Pacesetter.

Is the 1994 exhaust setup different from the 92-93 setup?

I don't think that the exhaust setup is different. They all used the exact same chasis. The only difference I could possibly think of is a second cat on OBD-II cars.

A lot of members on here who have gone with the Pacesetter catback have regretted it, saying that it sounds very raspy. Use the search feature, and look-up any info on the Pacesetter.

The pacesetter cat backs are not bad at all..there decent quality and mandrel bent. Its the headers that people do not recomend. And ist not really pacesetters fault there raspy. Its the fact that they are designed for most power which would be because there long tubes and then no equal length y pipe. It uses a ball joint type flex bjut most ahve ahd that replaced with a traditional flex pipe. and they rust a bit if you don't get the stainless.

but anwyays the cat back aint to bad, but I recomend getting a custom one made at a shop and you can pick whatever style muffler you like. and you need to consider, do you want 2.25" or 2.5"

On a stock K8.. dont go more than 2.25". You will lose massive amounts of torque. And your gas mileage will go straight into the toilet.

On a DE or ZE.. 2.5" exaust will net more top end HP. But on a K8 it will just kill the power.

Thanks for all the help guys. I am indeed planning on going 2.25. I found a great deal on the pacesetter and can't seem to find any other catback exhaust systems from any other brands for the 94.

I would go custom but that would require me driving 45 minutes to the big town next to me and I am a full time student/part time job.

This question's been on my mind too. Exhaust is one of the things next on my list. Problem is I'm going turbo soon, so I'd rather tune the system to that than my N/A ZE.

Let me know what you end up doing though :)

What about a ZE with NOS? Would 2.5 still be the recomendation?
