Few KLZE questions
I plan on swapping my K8 to a KLZE and im looking at one on the tigerjapanese website in Ontario (which is currently down for some reason) and was wondering if this is a good route to go? Also, is a KL31 the same as a KLZE? What is the best way to make sure it is a pure KLZE 200hp? And what is involved in the swap as far as allowing the KLZE to put out its "200 hp"?
Thanks alot in advance!!

Please do not go on with people getting screwed by Tiger. They are the retards who buy motors without looking at them, and when you order a motor from any importer to be shipped. You MUST tell them you want it to say KL31 on the heads and have what manifopld you want and ask for picrures if you want. Precidian did that when he bought his from Sunrise. So if you don't do any of this then its your fault you got ripped.
I ahve bought motors many times from tiger for myself and friends, and never an issue and always good motors. and by the way Tiger only has curve necks. I was there th other day and they were sold out of kl31 cammed straight necks.

ok so now i have a couple more questions...
KLZE = KL31-101 and there is no difference to the KL31
so the KL31 = KL31-101 correct?
and whats the difference between straight neck and curved, bcause dont us mx3rs run curved?
can anyone give me some trust-worthy sights to order one off of, as well as a proper computer and transmission! Thanks!

Get a KLZE ECU, not an MX-6 one. It should be labled KL31 or KL36. As for the VAF, since your car i presume is the V6.. then you already have the necessary VAF to go with the engine. As for your tranny, yours should work just fine. Since your doing the swap, you might want to change the clutch, water pump & timing belt on the ZE since it'll be easier to work on.

I'm not saying Tiger has bad motors, but I'm just saying from a buisness aspect they don't care about the customer where they'll screw you over if they can. It's proper buisness practice to give the customer what he asked for, it could be one thing if someone got a KL01 ZE and not a KL31 ZE, but for them to pass a DE off as a ZE and argue that fact is sad, Ian knows this first hand and their attitude towards it was wrong. This guy is on the end of the country and does not have the convinience of being able to look and pick and choose which ZE he wants, at least by pointing out that thread, he can learn from other people's mistakes, not fall into any of their advertizing traps and hopefully cover his a-- if and when he orders a motor from them. At least he knows now (hopefully) so that he doesn't add to that list.mx3autozam wrote:^^^^^

Depends. If you get a KL31/KL36 ECU, the stock Mx-3 JE50 VAF is matched for it. If you decide on getting a Mx-6/Probe ECU, you'll need the VAF matched to it.purplemx3gs wrote:oh, and i should probably pick up a MX6 or KL31 computer shouldn't I, as well as a MX6 5spd tranny? And i heard something about a VAF Sensor...
You can keep your Mx-3 tranny no problem. Using the taller gears from the Mx-6/626 gearbox is optional and pretty much depends on personal preference.
A ZE ECU isn't necessary, a DE ECU/VAF combo works very well also. Good call on those swap items. No matter how new the clutch is, you'll need something better to handle the torque of the new motor. Waterpump and belts, highly recommended to do while the motor is out.Ricky_Bobby wrote:Get a KLZE ECU, not an MX-6 one. It should be labled KL31 or KL36. For the price they are going for on ebay.. about 150$, it's just easier to get that then to try and find a DE ECU and corresponding VAF for it. Since he already has the proper vaf for a ZE, why not just go with what's easy to find and get a ZE ECU? But if he wants, he can get a DE ECU/VAF combo aswell, but you won't be running the "full" potentiel of the ZE and he will reduce his MPG.Nd4SpdSe wrote: A ZE ECU isn't necessary, a DE ECU/VAF combo works very well also. I've always been told that DE ECU's and VAF's are cheap and had be bought for a fraction of the price of a ZE ECU. I paid $250US for mine, back when the Canadian dollar was around 70c, guess it depends on where you look
BTW, you cannot really get the full potential from a ZE in an Mx-3 unless you get a Probinator, Megasquirt, or the like, because there is no curved-neck ZE ECUs that will work in an Mx-3 harness

Yes, that is the preferred method since that is the factory setup. So say i bought a kl31 straight neck, swapped over to a curve neck, put a kl31/kl36 ECU in it, it wouldn't work?
A Probinator chip takes a K series NA ECU and maps in the VRIS and fuel for the ZE. Bascially the same a KL31/KL36 ECU. Maybe a tad more HP than the stock KL31/36.
Surely you know what megasquirt is... If not, do a google to learn more.
