ATF in manual v6 trans???

so the book says use ATF for our gear boxes... ive always used royal purple but do we accualy know if it doesnt work better. b/c i know honda trannys use 10w30 oil in their gearboxes ......so what can this tell us???

where did you see that in the online shop manual? Cause on this page it clearly says to use 75W-90W gear oil...

Mazda only specs ATF for use where climates conditions are continuously below 0deg C or the freezing point.

For some reason Ford specifies ATF in Mazda made transmissions even in parts of the country when it never gets below freezing for more that a few hours at the most.

ya I used to have an Escort and it used the same g series tranny and ford recomended ATF in it. The mx3 is 75w90. I don't know why Ford says ATF. its def somthing to do with climate.
