Probinator Chip

Post by Trevor »

I just got back from the Drag Strip after installing a Probinator chiped k8 ECU in my car. this is the only mod I did since the last time I was at the track and it showed no power imporovment. I ran the same time as i did with my KL31 ECU. The probinator chip was suppose to improve power right? What should I do? The Car runs fine with both ECU's the chiped one seems a little smoother but no HP gains.

They said it improved power by like 5whp or something. Thats not going to make a very big difference at the strip.

yea man it doesnt give you that much power over the stock ecu (thats why there is such a split line between those who say use the jspec ecu and those who say use the probinator). 5 ponies can easily be made or lost depending on the situations of just how its running that day. its really just a cheaper alternative to using the kl31/36 ecu

I know there is a big difference from K8 to chipped K8, but not a noticable amount between KL31 and K8Chipped. It's just way way cheaper to get it chipped, and it takes out your EGR code.

But with the probinator, there is a different chip if you have the kl03 heads with ze manifold or a complete ze, also if you have the curved or strate neck.

My chipped k8 seems to be working great. car feels really nice and propledd my car down the quarter in 14.4 seconds at 100mph.

Trevor. is this the same chip Ian,Mike,Krish and I are using? If so its made for kl31 cams with curve neck, but the vris points are also screwed up on it I believe. not sure if that makes a difference.
