Alright, well its not a f2t YET, but its on its way.
The engine is apart and the machine work has began. The head just got back from being washed. On Friday i ground the valves and put the block into the washer.
block will be done Monday.

As you can see the washer isn't perfect and it didn't remove the gasket, but compared to what the head looked like before, this is WAY cleaner.
I don't have pictures of the valves or the block yet, but its on my list of things to take pictures of.
Got the block back from being cleaned today, looks good. Don't have any pictures yet but will tomorow, its getting a coat of paint and some cleaning where the machine didn't get to.
Picked up some new freeze plugs today. Currently trying to find some bearings and rings.
Gave the oil pan its coat of paint today, The block gets sprayed tomorrow.
Got the block back from being cleaned, its quite amazing its in such good condition after 350k km.

I know its not perfect, but I'm not about to go bondoing my oil pan.
Hey, its been a almost a year since i first got the old probe and this project began, so i figure its time for a bit of an update. Unfortunately i have not yet taken any pictures.... but, words will suffice.
So:
The head is bolted back down to the block, The head is re-assembled with machined valves and valve seats. the stock cam is in there (for now), same goes for the stock valve springs.
The intake manifold is bolted back on, But for some reason i keep wanting to change it up. But probably what will end up happening is a new fuel rail and a good cleaning of the manifold. If anyone knows of any specs for making a fuel rail, i have a full machine shop to my disposal, so it can't be that difficult.
A new water pump is installed, and the old oil pump got put back on the block, I am still looking into shimming the relief valve to up the oil pressure.
Just this week i recieved my new timing belt, tensioner and idler pulley so hopefully i will find some time to get those on soon.
Ive been spending a lot of time reading the many pages on mega squirt, going over everything i have done to mine. This new engine will be on full standalone from the first startup so i must get it right.
Last weekend i got a few hours and managed to get the valve cover started, i painted it with some special paint that you bake in your oven for a hour. its suppose to withstand chemicals and heat up to 1600 degrees. I still have to polish off the "12 Valve" lettering and get myself a Mazda badge from the junkyard (remember, ford is a 4 letter word)
Anyways that's where the project stands, (on the engine stand that is) hopefully i will get time over the holiday season to get this thing running. (even without a turbo)

Through my readings i have leared that everyone that has blown up these engines the problems have occured in cylinder 1.
If you look carefully at the above picture you can see that the factory FPR is located between injector 1 and 2. and the inlet is on the far side of injector 4.
If you look even closer you will see that there is a M16x1.5 bolt plugging the end of the fuel rail.
So, i am making a block off plate for the factory fuel pressure regulator and replacing it with an after market one, which is connected to the end of the fuel rail, hopefully solving this problem.
