gas cap problem

whenever i take my gas cap off its built up a lot of pressure this cant be a good thing and what can be done to fix this is there a vent on the tank that might be plugged

Waht- acutally just the opposite. It is supposed to seal, but release pressure beyond a point, thus the clicking when you tighten it. Buy a new one, they are 10 bucks...

mine always hisses when unscrewing the gas cap...i notice mines more like that when its lower in fuel....its all good dont worry about it, nothing going on. it even says on the stock cap that it will do that.

its probably normal. buying a gas cap wont help though. the gas cap doesnt let pressure out.

its wicked normal TRUST me on that, just release it slow if you want, even if you let it out fast nothing should happen.

It shouldnt be building pressure.. the sound your hearing when you unscrew the cap is negative pressure or the sound of a vacuum being released.. air is being sucked into the gas tank.. and this is normal. Our gas caps are non vented and this is part of the emissions control system of the car. Many emissions control places check the gas cap according to factory specs.. so if you want to run vented.. make sure you keep a spare one that is non vented for emissions testing.

DUDE!!!! i opened my gas cap and it exploaded on me, i blew up a ******* gas station!!!!! jk....for once mine didnt hiss at me tonight, its safe dont stress....i dont think the dude who posted this even checks it anymore.

once and a while when i stop i open it to release pressure sometimes it doesnt do it im not worryin about now thanks tho
