Post by 95 rs »

ok so i just want to clarify everything i read. so i can use a light weight miata b6 flywheel on my b6de but all i need is the miata pressure plate and a mx-3 disc? im pretty sure this is right but i wanna just clarify. im looking at one from ebay so just wondering. thanks in advance.

thats is correct a miata 1.6 flywheel and miata 1.6 pressure plate. then u'll need the mx-3 clutch disc. thats the setup i used on my old f-series trans setup.

the 1.6 maita clutch disc is a bigger spline count and is to big in the f-series trans shaft. reason why the mx-3 disc is used and not the miata.

To broaden the reach of this thread:

Equally if your running an F-series tranny with a BP(miata 1.8L) you can run a
1.6L Flywheel
1.6L PPlate
and
1.6L disc

or although this is not recommended by the manufacturers:
1.8L flywheel
1.8L PPlate
and
1.6L Disc which is smaller in diameter then the 1.8L Disc.

I'm running a protege 1.8L...with the mx-3 flywheel and Plate..I didn't replace anything but the flywheel bolts when I did the swap...

as far as Spec and ACT have told me the bolt pattern for the Miata and MX-3 1.6L crank to flywheel are the same...aswell as the bolt pattern for the flywheel to pressure plate...

the only reason we have to use mx-3 disc's is obviously because of the spline count and diameter...
