ac belt slip

Post by nolig2278 »

i am pretty sure it is my ac belt that it slipping.
happens when car is first started in the morning and then after sitting for a few hours

also seems that when the ac kicks off and on there is a slight split second squeal

does this mean the belt is too loose or too tight or just some belt dressing will do??

thanks

If a belt is too tight it will whine, it sounds almost like a supercharger. When its too loose it will squeel, OR if the belt is too old and the rubber has gone to poop. If the belt has squeeled more than once or twice its best to replace it, think of it as your belt having done a burnout everytime it makes the noise.
