Does anyone have any ideas or guides on how to build one of these? im looking into making a homemade one, not really looking to drop $300 on an intake. Pictures would also be helpful just to geve me a mental image of what to do. thanks.

I'm pretty sure he meant a cold air intake meant for a civic, the stock one is not going to work very well.
If you decide to order a kit off ebay, I would suggest the one meant for an integra GSR. It comes with 2 pips but you only need the one with the breather nipple. After shipping I believe it was about $50. It even comes with some handy brackets that you can use to relocate your coolant resevoir.
There is no cutting or modification to the pipe required if you use it in combination with a 3" x 3" rubber coupler. Just attached the tube to your throttle body, use the coupler to attach to your MAF, and attach the filter directly to the MAF.
Worked fine for me, here is a picture:
Unfortunately I did have to CAREFULLY bend a metal line that normally goes under the resevoir. Make sure you don't kink it or anything if you decide to do this, because it will have to be moved in order to get the filter down there.

that looks pretty good. how did you get your vacum hose to fit on? was there already a attachment?
I was thinking of something like this-------> http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Racing-A ... 3848QQrdZ1
let me know if this would work.

i see that you have something connected to the end of the intake, its like some sort of rubber hose. What is it?

That is the exact kit I bought.
The blue hose is for the breather, you pretty much need that. Make sure whatever kit you buy has a nipple for it.
The black hose on the end is actually a 3" coupler for plumbing. Its meant for making a flexible joint. I used it to connect the air flow sensor to the end of the aluminum tube.
I wish the pipe also had a nipple for the EGR... I might have to make one somehow.
I have no idea if the intake in the auction you linked to will fit properly. Chances are you'll have to cut it or something. The big advantage to that one though is that it has a nipple for the EGR.

Toucan is an aftermarket performance company.
Another good suggestion would be looking at http://www.vibrantperformance.com/ and creating an intake from the induction fabrication components offered there. Then find someone who sells their product.
Here's a link to their distributors in Canada.
