Eibach Coilovers w/ Ford Racing ZX2 S/R Struts.

= you will be happy.

The S/R Struts are like $150 for all four. They are supposed to be equal to/better than the Tokicos and other misc offerings by the aftermarket.

Usually i woulod suggest what Perry did, however, you may need something more for drag racing.

The S/R struts will only handle 182# springs in the rear (reliably) but i'm thinking you'll need much more than that to keep the weight transfer to a minimum and keep the front tires better contacted to the ground.

While the Ksports have been known for cheap quality, etc...they'd probably last longer drag racing than road racing and you could raise the rear spring rates up higher.

You'd be lucky to find a set, but the '98 ZX2 FRS coilover kit would be your ticket.

With this kind of power I would go this way:

1. all polybushings front and rear
2. Whiteline rear swaybar
3. Custom valved Koni`s + GC`s with Eibach ERS and custom springrates.
4. Roll cage, stiffens up a lot, and also makes it a bit more safe.
5. if you can find, SRD products, they are all excellent.
6. lightweight 15s with sticky good quality rubber.
7. and what I really want myself, some chassis bracing. Like FM`s butterfly brace on the Miata.

Probably some stuff I`ve missed, but the most important is here.

The Ford Racing struts and Eibach springs are not a true coilover, they are a lowering spring on a adjsutale perch that sits on the strut. You can get GCs that fit the Ford Racing struts and order custom spring rates, but I don't think you can get a very stiff rear spring on those struts. They are good, but you don't want to overload the strut with a super strong spring. I wouldn't go that route with a drag car. You need something that you can order custom spring rates and then match the spring rates with the valve on the strut. Thus you need an adjustable strut or a strut that you can order a specific valving for. Thus I would go with a true coilover of some type. For the options we have on the MX-3 I would look into one of the few true coilover brands that have an adjustable strut so that you can set the valve ratio according to your spring weight. K-Sport is one of them, but there are two others in Europe that make true MX-3 coilovers too. I cannot remember thier name, but would try and find them if I were you.
Chris is doing well, but he cannot adjust his suspension settings and would be beter if he could. I think he does so well b/c he is a good driver, not b/c his suspension set-up is awesome.
Bushings are important, but not so much on a drag car. All you do is go straight and don't want to fight the wheel all the way down. Bushings will help the car track straight under your power, but I would concentrate on coilovers first. More bang for the buck in your case. Secondly I would get a LSD. It is sure to take a good bit off your time since you can get both tires to engage off the line upping your launch RPM a good bit.

if you search coil overs there are a few options although ksport i think is one of the best.. i'ved talked toa lot of people who are very happy with their ksports... another options is http://www.sellisengineering.com (i'm trying to have some protege people who live near there look into the shop) also you can buy coil overs for the mx-6 and mod them to fit and there are a few companies that make for them also
