Post by 95Precidia »

Hey guys I really want to put keyless entry into my car, only problem is I have manual door locks as we all know. I know it is possible to still do it but dont want to pay like $230 to get all the parts and labour plus an alarm. The cheapest I could find was $330 with compustar alarm not a 2 way though as I wanted and labour and everything.

pain in the butt to run wires into mx-3 doors..........

$60 -$200 for alarm unit (not counting ebay)

$20 - $30 for door lock actuators (sometimes cheaper)

the rest is labour. Low -> approx $220, high -> approx. $350

Got to find a shop that's willing to do it cheap just to get business

It's not too bad. The nice thing is that all the mx3 chassis are wired for power doors, so over half the work is done for you. If you can find an mx in a graveyard snag an end clip out the door and steal the pins. Put those wires into your door in the right pin slots and boom, wiring complete. I forget if it's the power windows or door relay box that's missing from the rs, pretty sure it was a door relay, but if you snag that too the drivers side door will control the passenger side.

Even easier. Jack some doors from a GS. Power windows and locks without touching a wire.

Shops around here charge $50US a door, parts and labor.

Usually, if you are buying an alarm, you can talk a shop into throwing in doors if you tell them you'd step up on the alarm.

When I picked up my Clifford pager alarm, I told the guy I had $400 total for the job. When he told me the cheapest pager unit would cost $400 by itself, I told him to give me the cheaper plain jane alarm and throw in the doors, which was going to cost $375...

He said he'd throw in the doors for free if I paid for the $400 alarm... Problem solved :D
It might be slow, but it's not a civic!
