hello... i just wanted to know if someone has/had the same issue, and what have you done to fix it or if you know how.
its been a couple of months now, the thing that happens is... when i shift 1 ->2 there is a lil crack, so i have to slow down and do the shifting slow. or when shifting back to 2->1 sometimes it doesnt take it, i have to stop the car(almost) to put back to 1. 2->3->4->5 without a problem, its just the 1 & 2. also when its parked the car, and im going reverse. the R shitf is stuck? well it doesnt take it even if i push it hard. the thing i do to make it work is i go forward a lil(few cms) and then i try again... and booala it works.
well just wanted to know if someone knows what i should do.
(and if someone lives in wpg and has a extra front bumer... send me n email diegologo14@hot )
Thanks
same here lol, i could also start my car in like 3rd no problem lol. for the reverse what i do sometimes is clutch put in R, it gets a little stuck i let go a little of the clutch and push it gently and it works no problem.
I had this happen to me too. My mechanic suggested it was the synchros in the transmission. I had the transmission pulled and rebuilt. But about 1.5 to 2 years later, the same thing started and now I think I just totalled my 2nd gear. I talked to my mechanic and he said that I might have to replace the internal components of the transmission. I'm not sure exactly what he meant, but the idea is that things are worn out, not lining up correctly when I shift gears. You won't be able to go to mazda and buy a new transmission because it'd be like $3000 to 5000 dollars. For now... I have no idea what i'm going to do. I might just buy a new car. Rebuilding it again would be over $1000.
ohh.. i c... well i would try to get another mx3(that someone is parting out... maybe his trans works fine... anyways) well for you guys i have a diff prob now... when im stoping (anytime) sometimes the car shakes, and the oil light lights up... well it just flashes, but its annoying.. anyone has a clue?? :?
thats about it i guess.
As for the reverse being a bit tricky- There are a good number of manual transmisions that are tricky to get into reverse. Try going into second gear, then into reverse (at a stop of course). It should fall right into gear. I also have to sometimes let the clutch out a bit to get the shifter to change into reverse. It is not harmful as long as it doesn't grind and you don't use much force on the shifter. As for forward gears (1,2,3,4,5)- You should only be able to shift into first at nearly a dead stop. The gear is made that way so that you do not over revv the car. If it is stiff at a stop then I would say the synchros are going bad. Usually you see second or third gear as the first synchro to go out since they are the ones that take a beating when try to accelerate quickly (racing or just trying to go fast). If shifting is only difficult in one or more gears, but not all gears then it is a internal trans problem. If it is difficult in all gears then it is likely a clutch issue. However, before spending the money on a rebuild or new trans I would adjust the clutch pedal free play. A small bolt and nut at the clutch pedal that adjusts how high the pedal sits. If ajusted then you can have more "action" in the clutch. Bleed the brakes and clutch line incase the fluid is old. I might even replace both slave cylinders for new or rebuilt ones and the clutch line for a stainless steel one just to make sure I've done about everything I can other than repalce the trans.
