BPT started to knock

Post by cyclonekid78 »

Im just looking for general ideas on problem.

The engine starts to knock after it has warmed up. Sounds like its in the valvetrain, on the intake cam to the left. I would think it was a rod but its not a steady knock.

Anychance you can record the sound and post a sound clip? Also.. you can get a mechanics stethoscope (if you dont already have one) and use it to pinpoint exactly where the sound is coming from.

They are cheap and invaluable for tracking down specific noise locations :)
One word of caution though.. these suckers get LOUD.. so test fit them in your ears and on something quiet before you hit your valve cover with it ;)

it's not overheating? if not, you may have a valve that has spun... any noticable power loss?
